We are now looking for an innovative R&D Engineer to strengthen our global R&D team in developing high quality and sustainable technical textiles and related technologies. The role is based in Ovar, Portugal . The position holder is responsible for Developing innovative and cost competitive technical textile products and services to complement our offering as a part of our global R&D team, in particular, developing weaving patterns of technical textiles. Searching for, planning and implementing new materials and technologies and developing collaboration between Valmet and its stakeholders. Specifying technical requirements of products and raw materials. Monitoring global development of relevant technologies and competitors. Supporting manufacturing and quality assessment of products and sourcing of materials. Expectations To succeed in the role, you have Master’s degree in Textile Engineering (mandatory). 3+ years’ experience in industrial R&D in a global environment. Knowledge of technical textiles, their manufacturing technologies and polymer materials. Innovative mindset for solving challenges and creating new technologies. Interest in utilizing digitalization to support sustainable material technology development. Fluent English, both written and spoken. Will to travel occasionally. Knowledge of paper technology and paper manufacturing process is considered as an advantage.
